Bavarian Sons on Radio Arabella: How a Trip to the USA Inspired Our Mild Helles Beer

From a travel-inspired idea to a new beer for the next generation: We had the opportunity to introduce our Mild Helles on Radio Arabella and share how our trip to the USA sparked the idea for our new product.

Sometimes the best ideas come from the most unexpected places. For us at Bavarian Sons, the story of our Mild Helles began on a trip to the USA. What started as a discovery eventually inspired a new Bavarian beer and even brought us to the microphone at Radio Arabella.

From Bavaria to the USA and back with a new idea

As three friends from Bavaria, we founded Bavarian Sons with a clear vision: to make Bavarian beer accessible to a new generation and combine the quality of our home region with a modern, international lifestyle.

During our trip to the USA in 2022, we saw how differently beer markets work and how drinking habits are changing. We realized that, alongside classic beer specialties, there is room for new concepts that fit a modern lifestyle.

Back in Bavaria, this inspired the idea for our Mild Helles: a Bavarian Helles with 3.5% alcohol, created for mindful enjoyment without compromising the character of a Bavarian beer.

Mild Helles: Bavarian brewing tradition meets modern lifestyle

With our Mild Helles, we want to show that traditional Bavarian beer culture and modern drinking habits can work wonderfully together.

Our new beer is for anyone who enjoys a good Helles but is looking for a milder alternative. With 3.5% alcohol, it complements our existing range and opens up new possibilities—for enjoying at home as well as in the hospitality industry.

We see great potential, especially for restaurants, bars, and beer gardens. Demand for a wider variety of beer options is growing, and the Mild Helles gives hospitality businesses another alternative to offer their guests.

Current trends in lighter beer-based mixed drinks and sour Radler at Oktoberfest also show that beer culture is evolving. We are convinced that a mild yet characterful Helles is just right for the times.

Guest appearance on Radio Arabella: Our story on the air

We were delighted to receive an invitation to Radio Arabella. During the interview, we had the chance to talk about who is behind Bavarian Sons, how our trip to the USA shaped our ideas, and what inspired us to develop the Mild Helles.

For us, the visit was a great opportunity not only to introduce our new product, but also to share the story behind our brand. Bavarian Sons stands for more than beer: we want to combine Bavarian quality with new ideas and show that tradition and innovation belong together.

We are especially proud to have had the opportunity to share our vision on a Munich radio station. After all, we are from Bavaria ourselves and want to bring our home region and its beer culture to the world in a modern way.

A heartfelt thank-you to the Radio Arabella team for the invitation and the enjoyable conversation!

Our vision: Rethinking Bavarian beer

We are still at the beginning of our journey with Bavarian Sons. We want to bring our products to more hospitality venues and markets, build new partnerships, and inspire people around the world to enjoy Bavarian beer.

The Mild Helles is another step along that path for us. It shows how international experiences can spark new ideas and how we can bring those ideas together with Bavarian brewing tradition.

One life. Enjoy it.
