Accessibility Statement

Introduction

Bavarian Sons GbR is committed to making its digital services intended for consumers—including the website www.bavariansons.com and the online order/e-commerce functionalities provided through it—accessible in accordance with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and the Ordinance on the BFSG (BFSGV). This accessibility statement applies to the following digital offerings:

  • All e-commerce functions accessible via the domain (product presentation, shopping cart, checkout, payment processes)

If individual services are operated on subdomains or external platforms, they will be reviewed in the same way according to BFSG criteria or are labeled accordingly.

1. Status of compliance with requirements

The accessibility requirements are derived from the BFSG, in particular from §§ 3 and 14 BFSG and the BFSGV. Regarding technical implementation, we orient ourselves to the state of the art, in particular to EN 301 549 and the WCAG 2.1 at conformance level AA. The website is partially accessible.

2. Non-accessible content

Our digital offerings are partially accessible. The assessment is based on a self-assessment and supporting automated analyses. The following requirements are currently not fully met (excerpt of relevant WCAG 2.1 AA criteria):

  • 1.1.1 Non-text Content
Some graphic content lacks sufficient alternative text for description for screen reader users.
  • 1.3.1 Info and Relationships
The semantic structure, e.g., headings and form labels, is not consistently correctly marked up, preventing assistive technologies from recognizing important relationships.
  • 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)
Text content and interactive elements have a contrast ratio in numerous places that is below the required minimum of 4.5:1.
  • 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks
Mechanisms for skipping repeated content (e.g., main navigation) are not available or not correctly implemented.
  • 2.4.2 Page Titled
Individual pages do not have meaningful or unique page titles.
  • 3.1.1 Language of Page
The main language of the website is not correctly specified in the code, which may cause screen readers to use an incorrect language setting.
  • 3.2.2 On Input
Some interactive elements react unexpectedly to user input, which can lead to unpredictable navigation.
  • 4.1.1 Parsing
The source code contains syntax errors (e.g., faulty HTML tags) that can hinder processing by assistive technologies.
  • 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value
Interactive controls (e.g., form elements, buttons) are not consistently provided with programmatically determinable names, roles, and states.
  • 2.4.3 Focus Order
The order in which interactive elements are navigated via keyboard focus is sometimes not logical or comprehensible. This makes operation difficult for keyboard users.

Furthermore:

  • PDF documents on the website are partially not prepared in an accessible manner. For example, they do not contain tags, which limits their use with screen readers.

We are continuously working to reduce these barriers. Critical user paths such as product selection, shopping cart, identification, and payment processes are prioritized—in line with the BFSG requirement that identification, security, and payment must be possible in an accessible manner.

3. Preparation of this statement and testing methodology

This statement was created on 09.09.2026. It is based on an actual assessment of a selection of pages on www.bavariansons.com using automated testing procedures (EqualWeb Accessibility Crawler) as well as a self-assessment.
